01The brief
Near Chamartín train station in north Madrid, the studio asked for a tall mixed-use building — offices, residential and entertainment — with a tower and a podium that blend into the urban fabric. The compound is meant to bridge Madrid’s old green corridor and its emerging counterpart.
02The idea
The mass is split into three blocks, each turned toward a different green axis — a compass for the neighbourhood. The height of about 205 m comes from a study of Chamartín’s urban section and skyline, and the façade’s 1:2 proportion is inspired by Madrid’s architecture.
03The outcome
A central cylindrical concrete core carries the three blocks, each on its own substructure. A parametric skin of active solar panels, rotated toward the east, south and west sun, provides shading and energy, while timber at the lower levels gives a warm, cosy atmosphere.
